It is a root canal treatment in which the tooth pulp is removed, and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and filled which ensures treating and restoring the tooth roots; a treatment that let the patient avoid losing the tooth. This endodontic microsurgery starts with performing an appropriate oral diagnosis, accompanied with X-rays, checking the exact position of the affected tooth, and then removing the decay, drilling a hole into in the crown of the tooth for local anesthesia followed by removing the damaged nerve or pulp and cleaning the root canal. Later the procedure involves filling it with permanent filling that replaces the damaged nerve.

The endodontic treatment is applied to the pulp of the tooth .i.e. its inner structure that contains the blood vessels which nourish the tooth. It also has the nerve endings responsible for feeling pain, heat, and touch. The structure also has lymphatic tissues. When this procedure is performed, the whole pulp is removed due to its damage and inflammation and replaced by a filling of the root canal. In fact, this treatment does not cause the tooth to fall directly, so the goal of performing it is treating and preserving the tooth as long as possible.

Having the pulp removed during treatment means removing its nerve endings and blood vessels resulting in having a less strong tooth which becomes more vulnerable to fracture; therefore, dentists recommend a dressing of the tooth or the installation of a crown since it helps to strengthen and protect it.
