An Overview About Full Teeth Crowns

The number of people suffering from damaged and cracked teeth is increasing day by day due to our fast lifestyle and some negative eating habits like having fast food and sugary soft drinks that are full of acidic substances which weaken the structure of the teeth. Nevertheless, there is a convenient solution for all: it is having teeth crowns. The choice of tooth crown among people became more popular as some statistics have shown that approximately 15 million people in the USA have undergone simple dental treatments, such as the installation of dental Partial or Full teeth crowns and bridges.

Dental crowns, or dental caps according to some cultures, is a simple Cosmetic dentistry treatment for restoring damaged teeth that contain fractures and gaps or those that suffer from severe decay. The aim of this treatment is also avoiding tooth extraction or any other surgical dental procedure. Moreover, dental crowns are divided into two parts. Partial teeth crowns that are used in case of minor tooth damage and full teeth crowns that dentists recommend to preserve the remainder of a damaged tooth or cover a newly implanted tooth.

Types of Full Teeth Crowns

Many materials are used in manufacturing dental crowns as the teeth may be covered with porcelain that is characterized by its composition and shape that closely resembles natural teeth. Sometimes dentists, for other cases, use porcelain and metal; in other words, putting a layer of metal over the tooth, then covering it with a layer of porcelain. Other dentists may recommend Zirconia crown that is a zirconium- made crown which is a mineral characterized by its hardness, resistance to oxidation and corrosion, in addition to its natural white color.

There is another material used in full dental crowns called E-MAX Crowns. This material is known for its glass-like composition and shape, giving teeth a beautiful shape and reflection. Sometimes doctors use E-MAX and zirconium together to take advantage of the beauty of E-Max and the toughness of zircon at the same time.

Dental Cap Procedure

Full dental cap procedure depends on measuring the affected tooth and measuring the spaces between the patient’s teeth in order to manufacture a dental crown that properly fits the patient’s tooth condition. After that, the crown is placed on it.

During this procedure, the patient doesn’t feel pain when undergoing full crowns treatment, and does not suffer from negative side effects; however, the skills of an experienced dentist are needed  like that of Healing Clinic dentists to have a healthy and shiny smile.
